Agrarisch land langs het Noorderdiep verandert in een gebied voor natuur, waterberging en recreatie. Ruim twintig jaar heeft het geduurd voordat de plannen ten uitvoer werden gebracht. Nu is het zover en de hoogste tijd om zelf een kijkje <span id=\"more-1737\"><\/span>te gaan nemen. Stichting DE STAD organiseerde daarom op <strong>zaterdag 2 september 2017 <\/strong>een <strong>fietsexcursie<\/strong> door het gebied van de Nieuwe Dordtse Biesbosch. Behalve het plan zelf, kwamen ook de (cartografische) geschiedenis en huidige verandering van het gebied, het landschappelijk ontwerp, waterbeheer, de natuurlijke ontwikkeling en het gebruik aan bod. Dordtenaren krijgen straks de beschikking over een netwerk van fiets-, wandel- en ruiterpaden en uitzichtplekken. Ook voor bepaalde dieren zal het gebied aantrekkingskracht uitoefenen. Vogels als de roerdomp en blauwborst en zoogdieren als de bever en mogelijk de otter zullen snel van het ontstane rietmoeras bezit nemen.
